Carlo Paalam, the lone remaining Filipino boxer, reached the final of the men’s flyweight division.

On Saturday, August 7 at 1:45 PM, Philippine time, Khyzhniak will compete in the final of the men’s middleweight division.

In the opening minute, the Ukrainian came out swinging, but Marcial was patient and waited for his chance to strike.

The judges scored the first round 3-2 in favour of the Filipino fighter Marcial despite a flurry of exchanges of punches and a deep cut sustained by Marcial.

In the second round, both boxers continued to throw several punches, with Marcial focusing on the body and cutting Khyzhniak on the nose.

Even though three of the judges once again sided with the Filipino, a full-on brawl ensued. Despite his obvious exhaustion, Marcial kept attacking the Ukrainian’s midriff, but this time the judges sided with Khyzhniak.

A bronze medal in the Olympics was a likely thing for Marcial after he won both of his bouts via stoppage.
